New Alert
SEPTEMBER_2009. Conjunction, the latest "Without Borders" exhibition explores the potential of cross-artist pollination by showcasing collaborations between creators on and off campus. The reception takes place this Thursday 9 September from 5:30 to 7pm.
In previous years, the "Without Borders" series has explored experimental projects that transgressed boundaries between analog and digital, between American and European, and even between serious and funny. The works in this year's exhibition jump the curbs between individual artists, putting to the test the hypothesis that two heads are better than one.
The ease with which digital media can be duplicated and shared has added the concept of "BOTH/AND" to our culture's previous obsession with the metaphysics of "EITHER/OR". Conjunction looks at the impact of "BOTH/AND" aesthetics on art production by pairing graduate students from U-Me's Intermedia MFA program with collaborators from the outside world.
